Since my son was just a toddler, he referred to this snack as a 'special' and now that he is a teenager, I can't think of anything else to call it. Sometimes, I'll refer to it as a large 'special' which would then include at least two cheeses, some roasted peppers, olives and maybe, another meat. Today I prepared a regular 'special', it's what both he and I love to snack on when he arrives from school.

That's antipasti! Impressive that he ate that when he was a toddler. : )

Antipasti! He loves it! When I was growing up, my Mom followed the traditions of her family and that was to start with a delicious antipasto, followed by a pasta and then a meat ... my Mom's antipasto was very Italian with prosciutto, capicola, salami, provolone, roasted peppers, black olives, anchovie and so much more. It was always my favorite part of the meal. My son has always likes fruits and cheeses, he could probably live on a ploughman's lunch.
